LONG WEAPONS |
|
| Raven Studios training weapons are designed to
withstand the rigors of free-sparring and are also well suited
for forms and solo technique practice. I feel it is important
that each training weapon mimic a real weapons performance and
feel as closely as possible, therefore hardwood training weapons
are constructed with the following qualities: |
- Blades are made from hickory (Information
about hardwood) and have a rounded edge for durability.
- The Tang is 10" to 12" long and is laminated and
riveted to the handle.
- Handles are made from two pieces of wood laminated together
to help prevent warping.
- Handles are oval shaped to aid in blade orientation.
- The pole is made from laminated hickory for strength and
to help keep this long weapon from warping.
- All weapons are finished with a linseed and tung oil blend
which penetrates into the wood to create a tough and durable
surface. After the oil has cured, the wood is hand buffed with
a paste wax to provide even more protection from the elements.
