| Hardwood long weapons or pole arms, are used in many Chinese martial arts styles. Raven Studios training weapons are designed to withstand the rigors of free-sparring and are also well suited for forms and solo technique practice. I feel it is important that each training weapon mimic a real weapons performance and feel as closely as possible, therefore these hardwood practice weapons are constructed with the following qualities: |
- Blades are made from hickory (Information
about hardwood) and have a rounded edge for durability.
- On bladed weapons, the tang is 10" to 12" long and is laminated and riveted to the handle.
- Handles are made from two pieces of wood laminated together for maximum strength and to help prevent warping.
- All weapons are finished with a linseed and tung oil blend which penetrates into the wood to create a tough and durable surface.
